This and That

This pic was from last week when we were playing on the back deck. I find that I will allow Nolan to run around in his undies and a t-shirt all day, but I normally try to dress Natalie in something cute (but of course she looks cute in anything).

So far, the food allergy thing is going okay. I have pinpointed one food that she is allergic to...graham crackers, but I can't determine yet what ingredient is causing the reaction. There were two ingredients that contained calcium...so I'm assuming it is one of those.

Nathan had his first bites of baby food yesterday. I think he liked it pretty well. Today he had some applesauce and peas. He still kinda keeps his mouth closed when I feed it to him...and the food drools down his chin. But as you can tell, he is getting enough to eat (hehe...double chin).

I'll be taking Nathan to the doctor soon for his 4 month shots (hate those). I also need to schedule an appt. for Nat, since they didn't give her the MMR vaccine because it was egg based. But, the allergist said that research is showing that this shot is okay for egg allergic children, and very necessary.

So last but not least...Nolan (this pic is a couple months old). He was "helping" Daddy mow the grass the other day, and did something that confirmed he is very much like me...obsessed with numbers.

Between the townhouses, are gas meters. Matt said that Nolan was looking at them, and then said "Wait a minute!" He then ran to the front of the house...looked at our house number...ran back to the meters...found the one with our numbers on it and said..."This one's ours!" He also likes to have 3 of everything now...naturally because he's 3 years old. He makes perfect sense to me...however I could not eat 3 of something...I must have an even number.

Meeting Neighbors

So last night, we got to play outside with the kids. Lots of people were out since the weather was nice. We met a few neighbors that also had their kids out. There were 2 little boys, ages 4 and 2 I think...and a little girl who is 22 months. I love watching how Nolan interacts with kids. But, he would still rather talk to the adults. Everyone commented on just how much he talked. He is so smart, sometimes too smart for his own good!!! He's been able to recognize every letter in the alphabet since he was 21 months old, he could also name several shapes including hexagon and octagon, and he could count to 15. Now, he's able to spell his name, type his name on the computer, and we're currently working on writing his name. The letter he struggles with the most is "A".

Natalie, on the other hand at 16 months, doesn't care to talk much...she can say "ball, mommy, and daddy" and that's about it. But, she knows how to get her point across. She also isn't much on other people. While we were outside, she just wanted her daddy to hold her. She is so much like her father. She has a high tolerance for pain and is very tough. Even when she went to the allergist and they pricked her with eight sticks in her back, she didn't even cry...just grunted. I have never seen such a tough little girl. But, then she is also very prissy. Anytime she hears music, she gets up and shakes her hips. I've been trying to capture this on video, but when she sees the camera, she wants that and stops dancing. Even though I never enjoyed dance class as a kid, I am excited to enroll her in a class when she's old enough.

And then there's Nathan. He's only 4 months old, so his personality hasn't yet come to the surface. He's very docile, and is becoming a very good sleeper (which really pleases Mommy). He reminds me a little of Nolan. When Nolan was this age, he wanted to stand all the time. Nathan wants you to hold his little hands so he can get on his feet. He giggles and coos, and it just melts my heart.

It's Been A While...

So, it's been a while since I've posted...We've been pretty busy over the past few weeks. The weather here is finally nice, so we've been playing outside and enjoying the warm sun...ITS ABOUT TIME! My grandparents pulled their camper up this way last week, so we went to see them at their campsite a couple days. They had a really good time, especially because Nolan spent the night with them. They said he was really good, and only asked about us once. He's always so good around them...until we show up. It's crazy how kids know from such an early age that you mind your grandparents...it's mommy & daddy who you sass!

Natalie had to go see an allergist yesterday. She had a reaction to egg back in October. Our pediatrician back in Hurricane said that it's probably something she would grow out of, and to try again in 6 months. Well, I began to notice that every time I would feed her cheese, milk, or chocolate, that she tended to spit up more. She also didn't really enjoy these foods...and trust me, that girl likes to eat, so this was a little unusual to me. When I told our new pediatrician about the eggs, and the spitting up after dairy, she referred us to an allergist. At first, I thought it was a little extreme, because she only got hives the one time in October, and she's eaten lots of food since then that contained egg, just not in high concentrate. Well, I was shocked to learn from her appointment yesterday that she is indeed allergic to eggs, milk, and peanuts. The peanut thing really threw me for a loop, cause she's had PB&J sandwiches, and bites of peanut butter off a spoon! So now we have to limit her diet. WOW!!! I don't know how to feed her now. I could handle the eggs alone, or maybe even the milk alone, but to be allergic to eggs & milk is quite something. I've been scanning labels this evening looking for something to feed her for breakfast, but I'm not having much luck. The info the doctor gave us says on the MILK-FREE diet to avoid foods with "calcium, potassium, and sodium". The stuff I have looked at have at least one of those. I wish the list would include things they CAN eat in addition to the things the can't eat.

Enough rambling for tonight. Nolan is all over me right now trying to get to the computer. I guess it's his turn ;)

Getting Ready to Visit Family

So today we have to start packing to visit our families for Easter. We are leaving sometime tomorrow. Our big plans are to head to our niece's birthday party...she's turning four on Easter. I don't think anything big is planned, just cake and ice cream at the house. Then we'll go to church on Sunday, and then out to Granny's house for a good home cooked meal...she's a great cook!!! I'm hoping I'll get to see my new nephew. He was born on Feb. 17th, and I've yet to see him. It's my brother's first baby (and probably the only one they'll have).

The Easter Bunny will be visiting our house a day early. I want my kids to enjoy holidays at our house instead of having to do all the fun stuff somewhere else. Plus, it's nice to not have to bring all the toys & baskets to and from our house. We were hoping for pretty weather so we could have a big Easter egg hunt at Granny's house, but it looks like we'll have to stay inside for that. I'm sure Nolan & Judson will have a great time since they are 3 (Judson a month away from 3)...I love this age except for the back talk!!! I really appreciate my parents now too since I am now a mother. I just wish my mom was still alive so that she could enjoy her grand kids. She passed away from breast cancer in July of 2003, so she never got to see any of her grand kids. But I believe that she watches over us from heaven.

Well, I need to start doing something since I've got 2 kids asleep...I have to take advantage of this time because it doesn't come by too often. I will post again probably after we return on Sunday!

My first blog

So I've decided to try to start a blog. Why do I say "try"? That is because I have 3 children ages 3, 15 months and 3 months. My 3 year old loves playing on the computer, and anytime I try to do something on the computer, he thinks it should be his turn to play, and pretty much roots me out of the chair. However, he is napping right now, and I'm gonna give it a try.

I don't have any pictures to post right now, but I will do that sometime soon hopefully. We recently moved about 3 hours away from our family, so I'm hoping this may be a good tool to keep them up on our lives. We'll get to see everyone for Easter, so we're really happy about that. I'll be sure to take pictues of my babies on Easter and post them.

Well, I've got one baby awake right now, and I think he's hungry....so I'll post again later.
